What’s the Chrysler’s future?

Now the firm are dealing its partnership with the italian automaker Fiat Group SpA, the last piece of the huge restructuring plan demanded by U.S. government. But Chrysler could still wind up under bankruptcy protection for a short time to reduce their debt and restructuring the firm.

Now, President Barak Obama planning to announce Chrysler bankruptcy tomorrow, but today he said:

We’re hoping that you can get a merger where the taxpayers will put in some money to sweeten the deal but, ultimately, the goal is we get out of the business of building cars, and Chrysler goes and starts creating the cars that consumers want

Robert Nardelli pointed to the deal with debtholders and the UAW deal:

I’m encouraged by this progress and I want you to know I deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by so many constituents to help us reach the restructuring targets established by the government

Now, the federal plan would oust Robert Nardelli and put in his place Sergio Marchionne…

Corvette revives the historic Grand Sport name that will replace in 2010 the previous Z51 package.

The new Corvette Grand Sport uses the LS3-based powertrain, 6.2L engine rated at 430 horsepower and 575 Nm of Torque with the standard exhaust system, and 436 hp and 580 Nm with two-mode exhaust system.

Also includes an unique wide-body styling and racetrack-bred suspension for a distinctive, starting grid-ready performer. Will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles.

2010 Grand Sport replaces previous Z51 package with better handling performance, wider wheels and tires, revised shocks, stabilizer bar and springs, and specific gearing.

The manual transmission for the new Corvette Grand Sport are uniquely outfitted with a dry-sump oiling system, rear-mounted battery and differential cooler.

With the Z06-style front splitter and rear spoiler, the new Grand Sport mounts unique 18 and 19-inch wheels painted finish standard and chrome finish optional, huge rear tires 325/30ZR19 and front tires 275/35ZR18, with Z06 brakes with six piston calipers (front) and four piston calipers (rear).

The new Corvette Grand Sport also includes a new Launch Control system designed to give drivers optimal traction during full throttle starts. With the Traction Control’s switch on all that you have to do is pull the gas pedal and the system modulates torque considering grip and traction. Use the Launch Control system won’t avoid the warranty.

The new high-performance Audi RS5, the range topping model, has been spied testing at the Nurburgring track, with its powerful V8 over 450 hp, an updated version of the last Audi RS4’s 4.2-litre V8 with more power and less emissions.

The new Audi RS5 will get the new double-clutch STronic with Quattro drivetrain, also active aerodynamics systems that includes a deployable rear spoiler and drilled-disc brakes with upgraded performance.

Styling will be a little different from the Audi S5, with bigger air intakes like R8, oval exhaust pipes, new front bumpers and new rear bumpers with a huge diffuser.

There is a rumour saying that Ford is building a new 2+2 coupé following Volkswagen Scirocco with the flavoured of the old Ford Capri.

Real or not, the artist Andrei Avarvii offer us his impressions about an hypothetical new Ford Capri based in the Volvo C30’s platform, styling a coupe with the size of a hatchback.

Also, rumour said that the new Ford Capri first concept will be at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show this September, and its production could be start in 2012.

The all new 2009 Seat Ibiza will be available with the new 1.6 liter common-rail TDI engine, replacing the old 1.9 TDI 90 bhp.

The new engine produce 90 hp and 230 Nm of torque between 1500-2500 rpm, with an ultra-low consumption and emissions of 4,2 liters/100 km (near 57 mpg) with 109 g CO2/km. This 1.6 common-rail turbo diesel engine is from Volkswagen and will be shared with the all new Volkswagen Polo 1.6 TDI.

Will be available in Europe this summer in both Seat Ibiza 5-door and SC (3-door).

Seat Ibiza is also available with diesel engines 1.4 TDI 80 hp and 1.9 TDI 105 hp.

General Motors today presented an updated Viability Plan with its new “four-brand” strategy focused in Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC, and killing Pontiac by the end of 2010.

The worst news for the historic american brand now its announced and confirmed.

Also, the revised plan move up the resolution of Saab, Hummer and Saturn to the end of 2009…

GM plans to end up with just 34 nameplates for 2010, a reduction of some 30% compared to 48 for 2008 and will cut an additional 8000 factory jobs in the United States, kill the Pontiac brand and shed 2600 ealers by 2010 under a revised business plan developed with the Obama administration complicity.
